Diagnostics, Vacuum and Assembly - DIVA (CEA)

The laboratory is a clean air-conditioned zone where several working areas are available for mechanical assembly, vacuum leak tests, pumping speed measurement or hydraulic tests for various parts of accelerators, ion sources or beam diagnostics.

  • Outgassing test stand,
  • Oven operating under vacuum, Tmax = 1200 °C,
  • Vacuum chambers,
  • Three marble workbenches,
  • Numerical recording (30 channels),
  • Residual gas analyzer (100 amu).

Surface analysis laboratory (CERN)

This laboratory undertakes the development, selection, specification, characterisation and analysis of materials such as metals and their alloys, composites, ceramics and thin films.


Surface characterisation laboratory (CIEMAT)

This facility is composed by the following infrastructures:

  • Scanning electron microscopy (SEM),
  • Scanning electron microscopy (FEGSTEM-EDX, BSE, EBDS),
  • Scanning Auger microprobe,
  • X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS/ESCA),
  • Transmission electron microscope (TEM) JEOL JEM 2010,
  • TEM sample preparation laboratory.

Laboratory for the detailed examination of large series of niobium sheets for the production of superconducting cavities.
