Test stations for superconducting magnets

MARISA (SEZIONE DI GENOVA)

Context:

MAgnete per RIcerca Superconduttività Applicata - Test of critical current of high current superconducting cable up to 8T in a bore up to 440 mm and current up to 100 kA with a transformer method.


Technical means:
  • Magnetic Field of 8T in 330 mm bore with sample temperature 1K
  • Magnetic Field of 6T in 440 mm with temperature 1K
  • Maximum current 100 kA.

SOLEMI (LASA, Sezione di Milano)

The SOLEMI facility consists of several magnets. The powering of the SOLEMI facility is provided by 3 CC power supply with maximum current of 30000 A, 6V. Both series and parallel connection are available. Powering of 2 kA 4V low noise, battery based is possible.


Technical means:
  • Winding machine,
  • Oven up to 700 °C in vacuum (Nb3Sn reaction),
  • Oven up to 900 °C in atmosphere (HTSC reaction).
Lights

Critical current measurements on superconducting wires up to 2000 A in the sample are possible.
